I was listening to the latest episode of The Magnus Protocol and I noticed that Needles was almost mugged, so he probably looks kind of common??? But he's also covered in needles????

So, I now headcannon Needles as A Normal Guy, doing Normal Guy Things, until he gets scared or angry and he puffs up like a cat, just fully covered in needles.

I wish I could properly express how much I love media that explores the relationship between humanity and "monsters". There is something so dark about characters losing their compassion as they delve into whatever darker power is holding them hostage, and their own fear they have towards their actions. Or what is even better, is the discussion of where is the line between humanity and monster drawn.

I think this is something that makes mythology SO interesting, so many monsters within Greek epics did not start as monsters, but were often normal people. Medusa, Scylla, Arachne, there are soso many. They lost the things that made them human.

This is also a callout post for TMA. Jon's descent into monsterhood is devastating to watch. You get to see a man who is truly afraid of becoming a pawn for a greater power. Jon was not chosen, he was not destined to be a monster, he was simply the person to take the archival job. Tbh TMA and TMP plays with inhumanity in a very interesting way. Like Needles is SUCH a fun character. Jokes aside from them just being some guy, with a fuck ton of needles, there's this callousness that they have when discussing people. They do not care that they killed someone, they care more about their own survival. There is a freedom in the loss of control, but when you gain this freedom, do you lose your humanity in tandem?

It'll be interesting to see what kind of role, if any, Needles will have going forward. I'm also curious if Sam will soon grow more unbothered by death and the horrors as he's exposed to more statements.

I've heard Dungeon Meshi also delves into the line between humanity and monster however I havent gotten for enough to speak on it yet ;0 ok thats all I just wanted to yell about this

protocol is already going heavy on the themes of invasion of privacy and surveillance what with the OIAR getting people’s personal letters, messages, therapy sessions, etc

and then there’s needles, who just said all that shit for free and would say it again

Recap Notes: MAGP 6 "Introductions"

Spoiler Warning: this is a purely selfish exercise in remembering what the hell happened last season (from someone caught up thru MAGP31, 2/27/2025 & all of The Magnus Archives). No promises I'll keep up with it. Summary: It took the internet .05 seconds to twink the pointy one. Casement: CAT1RB4824-09022024-12022024 I haven't instantly been so onboard with a character since Luke Booys first voiced Michael. Sorry, Alex. There's just something refreshingly chilling about a spook who's gone full ham on giving into their nature. Torturing someone as you can hear them smiling. Needles is having a great time, and you know what? Good for him. “Oh the land is definitely marked now, same as me” Might be the first talk of the land itself being marked, but it won't be the last. Re-emphasis on the idea that the fears here want attention. Needles wouldn't get the satisfaction of the kill without the 999 call bragging about it, and there has to be a reason Freddie started getting vocal (outside of a cry for help). Ask Colin. Freddie does not equal friend. This ep also gives us our first taste of Celia in TMP. Notable for giving the great if on-the-nose: "four weirdos in a basement reading scary stories? Dream job." If I only had a nickel... Bonus Alice Lines That Feel Prophetic in Retrospect:

SAM Is someone else leaving? ALICE Hope not, but this job has kind of a high turnover rate, so Lena likes to hire a couple of replacements when an old-timer leaves

Continuing my tma-relistening rumbles this time with a tmp connection 👀

So I noticed some interesting parallels between tma and tmp after listening to "Squirm" (tma ep 6) (no one is surprised but hear me out)- if yall remember that was the episode that "officially" set off the whole Jane Prentiss arc, Harriet said to Timothy that when she went home from a party she saw a women lying on the ground (aka Jane) and asked her if she's alright and ended up being 'marked' by the corruption, eventually dying

Now.. I thought about it. Alice did the exact same thing. After she went to see her brother's performance. Like, the resemblance is there.

I hope that Alice is going to be alright but I can't help but think that she got marked by... Something???

Fears works very differently on tmp because they're all smooshed together but I can't stop thinking about the fact that it happened AND afterwards we got the case of this exact individual like. HM. HMMMMM.

Ok this may be a silly theory, but what if this is the same Celia as the tma universe?

Like okay, so we originally meet her in ep 100 by the name Lynne Hammond, and it’s only after the Eyepocaplyse starts that she starts going by Celia. So what if after ep 200 she came over with the Jmart crew, being the only one that’s not an avatar of sorts and/or not tied to the web’s plans, and therefore was the only one that got a body?

Again, I have No Clue what the lore implications would be for this, but like? Why would she go by Celia in this world? Is it just a weird inconsistency that changed bc they’re in a different universe? Or is it purposeful?
